All Kiker Learning Sessions will take place on Wednesdays from 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
Please note that select sessions may focus more towards specific grade levels and are noted below. However, educators are welcome to register and attend any session(s) that would best meet their needs.

January 11th
Integrating Project-Based Learning in the Blended-Learning Classroom with Sara Bowers
Project-Based Learning is a teaching method used in integrated STEM where students gain knowledge and skills by investigating and responding to an authentic and engaging problem or challenge. In this workshop, you will participate in a PBL project (based around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals) from a student perspective.

Session 1 (Elementary/Middle School)
Musical Engineering and Creating with Chrome Music Lab with Sara Bowers
A fantastic STEAM tool, Chrome Music Lab is a website that makes learning music more accessible through fun, hands-on experiments. Many teachers have been using Chrome Music Lab as a tool in their classrooms to explore music and its connections to science, math, art, and more. In this workshop, you will participate in a STEM Music lesson through a student lens and then have time to explore the Chrome Music Lab and other Digital Music Tools to develop ideas for implementation into your own curriculum.
**Note: During this workshop, you will be building a quick musical instrument out of recycled supplies. Please have handy recyclable materials (bottles, cardboard, boxes, plastic, etc.) and/or basic craft supplies (tape, glue, scissors, paper, rubber bands, beans/beads, etc.).**
Session 2 (Middle/High School)
Teaching “How to Search” with Gene Carboni
Who really knows how to search with Google? Did you know as a teacher you can create a “Custom Search Engine” for your class or even for an individual lesson. Do your students know how to maximize their searches with less words? Do your students know how to search with images using “Google Lens? Join this session to get the answers to these questions and more.

Building Together for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (UDL) with Donna Teuber
Use the framework of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) to design lessons and activities to meet the needs of all learners. Explore tools and resources to support access and inclusion for all. Collaborate with your colleagues to re(design) a lesson.

Jazz Up Your Google Classroom with Gene Carboni
Did you know you can add emojis to Google Classroom Topic and Assignment Titles? Let’s take a look at how we can spice up our Google Classroom with Rich Text formatting, templates, forms, a Table of Contents in your Stream, links, and more.

Build a Better World: Community Projects for Students with Donna Teuber
How might we activate our students to turn problems into opportunities and make a positive change in our communities? Participants in this workshop will learn strategies and tools for engaging students in real world exploration and discovery. Using the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we’ll engage in hands-on activities that can be adapted for all subjects and grade levels. Participants will team up to observe, interpret, and investigate topics and design activities to implement back in the classroom.
