What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? The Generative Creative Process, GPT Chat & Bard Settings with Shannon Nish
This workshop will introduce you to the basics of artificial intelligence (AI), including the generative creative process, GPT Chat, and Bard. You will learn about the different types of AI, how AI works, and how it can be used to generate creative content. You will also learn about the benefits and challenges of AI-generated creative content, and how to use GPT Chat and Bard in education.
November 8th
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education: What Educators Need to Know with Eric Curts
The capabilities and availability of Artificial Intelligence tools have skyrocketed in recent years. It is critical for schools to consider how to best address and use AI in education. In this session we will explore a wide range of generative AI tools, dive deep into many practical and powerful ways to use AI for teaching and learning, and explore how to address potential misuses of this transformative technology.
November 29th
AI Guidelines for Students with Shannon Nish
This workshop will discuss the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) for students. We will cover topics such as how to use AI to support your learning, not to replace it. How to be honest about your use of AI. How to be aware of the potential risks of using AI. How to cite sources when using AI-generated content. How to use AI ethically and responsibly.
------------------------------------------------
December 6th: Please note that the two sessions offered on this date are focused more towards specific grade levels and are noted in the descriptions. However, educators are welcome to register and attend any session that would best meet their needs.
Session 1 (Middle school / High School)
Re-Thinking Assessment in the Age of AI with Derek Tranchina
Just as calculators forced us to change how we assess math, Generative AI has forced us to re-think what assessment should look like. In this session we’ll explore strategies for adapting assessments to include high order thinking and mixed methods to ensure that Generative AI tools can only be used as a tool and not to undermine academic integrity.
Session 2 (K - 5)
Re-Thinking Assessment in the Age of AI with Shannon Nish
This workshop will explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to transform assessment in the elementary classroom. We will discuss how AI can be used to create more personalized and engaging assessments, to provide real-time feedback to students, and to identify students who are struggling. We will also discuss the ethical and practical considerations of using AI in assessment.
------------------------------------------------
January 10th
AI Labs in a Student Centered Classroom with Gene Carboni
This training session will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) and universal design for learning (UDL) can be used in student-centered classrooms to provide personalized learning experiences for students. We will identify resources available to help teachers implement AI and UDL in their classrooms.
January 24th
Artificial Intelligence / Natural Misuse: Managing AI in Schools with Eric Curts
As beneficial as AI is, it also comes with challenges and the potential for misuse. In this session we will explore tools and strategies to help monitor AI use, proper citation for AI generated content, ways to encourage positive use of AI in the classrooms, developing your own class set of AI guidelines for students, alternative assessment options, and more.
